Meet Dr. Walton, DDS, FAAID, DABOI/ID

Matthew Walton is your experienced dentist in Greenwood. For almost two decades, he has served Indianapolis Metro, Greenwood, Southern Indiana, and Central Indiana with dedication and care. Dr. Walton is specially trained (Indiana University and UCLA) in sedation dentistry and is one of only a few dentists licensed in Indiana to administer IV sedation (the majority of dentists administer pill-only sedation). He offers several options for sedation so that you can be relaxed and comfortable throughout your appointment.

Dr. Walton’s Expertise in Family, Implant, & Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Walton has the experience and credentials you should look for when considering a family and cosmetic dentist in Greenwood. Dedicated to life-long learning, Dr. Walton has averaged 90 continuing education credit hours (per licensing period) throughout his career. The minimum requirements for the state of Indiana are 20 continuing education credit hours per licensing period!

Matthew Walton has served Greenwood and nearby areas (including Indianapolis) for almost two decades. He is specially trained in sedation dentistry and is one of the few dentists in the state licensed to administer intravenous (IV) sedation.  Dr. Walton is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID).  This allows him to designate himself as an implant specialist.  To obtain this designation, Dr. Walton studied for several years under some of the most influential and top dental implant educators, and then took rigorous written and oral examinations. Additionally, Dr. Walton is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).

Meet Dr. Ashley Karczewski, DDS

Dr. Ashley is originally from Northwest Indiana, and went to Indiana University for her bachelor’s degree and dental school. She has extensive research experience in dental materials, dental public health, HIV, and medically complex patients, and has published many papers in scientific journals in these areas. 

She has won several awards in research internationally and had the chance to work in Nairobi, Kenya, for one year performing HIV and pediatric oral health research as an NIH Fogarty Global Health Fellow. She also worked as a Research Consultant for the University of Washington for several years. 

Dr. Ashley completed her residency in Dental Oncology in Buffalo, NY, at the University at Buffalo/ Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, focusing on managing oral complications of cancer treatments like radiation and chemotherapy and treating patients with head and neck cancer.

Clinical Interests: Her clinical interests include implants and bone grafting, dentures, cosmetic procedures (veneers, crowns), head/neck cancers and pathology, and gold foil/cast gold restorations.  She loves learning and honing her craft in dentistry and has completed over 300 hours of continuing education this year alone. Following in Dr. Walton’s footsteps, she is pursuing her implant specialty, i.e. the Diplomate with the American Board of Oral Implantology, as well as Fellow status with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry,  the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators, and the National Practice-Based Research Network.

Practice Philosophy: Dr. Ashley understands that going to the dentist is not the most fun thing to do, but she makes it easier and less stressful with her upbeat energy and down-to-earth personality. She prides herself in making everyone who is in chair comfortable, valued, and an active participant in their own oral health. Dr. Ashley is a big advocate of evidence-based dentistry, meaning that interventions are supported by studies and research, and she is always staying current with new proven methodologies. 

Hobbies: When she’s not in the clinic or doing hands-on training and lectures, Dr. Ashley spends her time gardening on her urban homestead, and cooking with friends and family. She is a Purdue Extension Master Gardener, and loves volunteering in this capacity.
